From January 2021 my business is temporarily closed due to current Government restrictions about Covid 19. I will keep this website and my Facebook page updated. At the moment I have no idea when I will restart.

Take care, Els
Hello
My name is Els. I have been a full time massage therapist since 2003. I am based just outside central Bristol in Long Ashton.
Click on the colour-highlighted words or the menu bar top left to get to more information.
Days and location:
Wednesday from 3pm, Friday from 3pm and Saturdays from 10am at Birdwell Clinic, Long Ashton.
I charge competitive prices and also offer concessions.
I am trained to practise therapeutic, deep tissue massage, a gentle form of Thai massage and pregnancy massage. My aim with all my massages is to first provide relaxation which will lead to release of tension held in the body. I want to help your body to help itself by letting-go of tension.
As the massage proceeds the relief of held tension and stress then helps the massage techniques to work better to alleviate soft tissue stiffness, aches and pains, reduce the likelihood of injury to soft tissue and, if injury has occurred, encourage the natural healing process of injured tissues.
Soft tissue consists of muscles and connective tissues. Connective tissue is formed of fascia that covers muscles, forms tendons and ligaments and covers bones, organs, your brain and spine. Your skin is also a type of connective tissue and, via subcutaneous tissues, connected to the fascia described and it is where the nerves and blood vessels come to the surface. Therefore touch affects your central nervous system and circulatory system as well. Hence its all encompassing nature.
As we are continually pushing our bodies and old habits die hard, a regular massage is good for maintaining healthy muscles and a balanced outlook on life, as massage works on both the body and mind whatever your age, emotional health or ability.
A regular massage is ideally once a week for maximum benefit but otherwise at least once a month. Saying that it is an individual's choice so even if you only feel you need a massage occasionally, this will benefit your body
Massage during pregnancy can bring relaxation that can help relieve tiredness, lower back ache, cramp and restless leg syndrome.
Indeed almost anyone can have a massage as a good therapist will work with the individual, listening to feedback and adjusting methods to suit the situation. Sometimes medical consent is required and if it is needed the therapist will inform you.
